Mentoring matters

Mentorship has been the cornerstone of the “I Have A Dream” Foundation for more than 40 years. At IHDF-Dallas, we are committed to matching every Dream Scholar with a mentor who can be a steady, positive presence in their life—from elementary school through young adulthood.

We encourage mentors to connect with their mentee at least once a week during the school year, especially in elementary school. For middle and high school students, connections are tailored to each scholar’s individual needs. Mentors provide consistent encouragement as Dream Scholars navigate school, personal growth, transitions, and life milestones.

Why Mentorship?

Mentoring is a powerful part of how we support Dream Scholars. A trusted mentor can inspire confidence, build motivation, and expand a student’s view of what’s possible. We believe mentorship should be a fun and rewarding experience—for both students and mentors—and that every Dream Scholar deserves someone who’s truly in their corner.
