Programs
The programs offered by “I Have A Dream” – Dallas support Dream Scholars and their families by overcoming barriers to learning and inspiring students to pursue and accomplish their greatest aspirations
Laying the Foundation for Tomorrow’s Leaders
We commit to supporting Dream Scholars at every stage of their educational journey. Through personalized guidance and consistent support, we help students build the skills and confidence needed to pursue their goals and succeed.
Our unique approach is centered around personalized support and long-term engagement, which includes:
Where We Begin:
Elementary School
Our elementary school program focuses on building a strong foundation that sets the stage for lifelong learning and success. Through academic engagement, enrichment activities, and mentoring with a focus on reading and math, we help Dream Scholars strengthen core skills early. In partnership with our school, we provide year-round opportunities that nurture students’ strengths, support social-emotional development, introduce life skills including financial literacy, and expose them to new experiences and opportunities for civic engagement. We measure success through school and program attendance, academic growth, and self-reported confidence and skill development.
Middle and High School Programs
As Dream Scholars enter middle and high school, our program evolves to meet their growing needs and expanding aspirations. In middle school, we focus on building essential skills such as creativity, confidence, critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and civic engagement. As they progress into high school, we deepen that foundation with opportunities for leadership development, college and career exploration, and real-world skill building.
Our programming continues to expose students to new experiences, foster independence, and prepare them for life beyond graduation. Throughout their journey, we use data-driven assessments and strategic partnerships to ensure each Dream Scholar receives the support, resources, and guidance needed to thrive.
Post-Secondary and Alumni Programs
Ensuring our Dream Scholars are prepared for life beyond school is our ultimate goal. Our post-secondary readiness programs provide support for accessing higher education and exploring a multitude of career paths. IHDF initiatives like the Great Expectations Program offer hands-on resources for programming, guest speakers, and scholarships with a focus on career development, summer internships, and individualized post-secondary success.
Mentorship and Professional Development
Mentorship is at the heart of everything we do at IHDF-Dallas. Our programs connect Dream Scholars with mentors who actively guide and support their educational paths and personal growth. IHDF mentors receive ongoing training and support to engage effectively with Dream Scholars and build strong, trusting relationships.
Support from IHDF National
The National Offices of the “I Have A Dream” Foundation support all chapters and affiliates by providing professional development, promoting best practices, collecting and analyzing data to enhance programs, and secure national grants to address shared challenges. Across the country, the Foundation is dedicated to providing a consistent experience for all Dream Scholars, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed.
